Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach revealed for PS5 – PlayStation.Blog

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been highly anticipating the release of the newest upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s game, Security Breach.  However, the release date is uncertain, planned for “2021”.  It’s quite vague, but knowing the game’s creator, Scott Cawthon, it’ll probably be here soon.  In the meantime, how about I go over all the information we have on the game so far, like game play mechanics, lore, environments, and characters.

Let’s start with the environment, shall we?  Security Breach appears to take place in a three story mall-like building, owned by Fazbear Entertainment of course.  From speculation, there seems to be a plethora of different environments.  I’ve scouted a laser tag arena, a go cart-like track, a large indoor play structure, a mini golf course, a place that looked like the sewers, and even the back rooms of the mall where usually only employees are allowed.  There were other places, but these seemed like the most important.

Now with a bigger environment, how will the game be played?  It’s a far cry from the first game, where you’re stationary in an office with a few fuzzy feed security cameras.  Security Breach is shown to be a more free-range, hide-and-seek type of game, and I know this has a lot of people excited, me included.  In the game it looks like we’re going to run around the mall as a child, and try to survive the night while being stalked by robots.  I probably won’t play it myself, since I’m a total wuss when it comes to horror anything, but the concept looks and sounds super cool.  If you haven’t yet, I’d go watch the most recent Security Breach trailer, it’s some good stuff.

But what about the characters?  Who do we play as?  Which animatronics are stalking us down this time?  Well, from the trailers, we’ll be playing as a boy named Gregory, who probably got lost in the mall and was locked in after closing time.  The other human portrayed in the trailers is a girl named Vanessa, who goes by Vanny.  Now here’s the thing with Vanny, I watch a lot of FNaF theories online, so her role in the game is a little unclear to me.  Some people see her as a friendly nightguard and others think she’s the main killer of the game who’s being controlled by Glitchtrap(it’s a long story, let me know in the comments of this post if you want to know Vanny’s backstory).  Whatever the case, I believe she is the main bad guy of the game, whether it be willing submission of forceful execution.

On the topic of bad guys, it looks like not all of the animatronics will be trying to kill us this time!  That’s definitely a new leap for the series.  But I’m going to start with the probably dangerous animatronics so we know our hunters.  The first of which is known as Montgomery Gator.  He seems to be the powerhouse of the animatronics, as we see him burst through a chain link gate in the most recent trailer.  It looks like Montgomery roams the mini golf course.  Mascot of the go-cart races is Roxanne Wolf.  We don’t see much of her movements in the new trailer, but she is seen charging at the player.  On the brighter side of animatronics we have Glamrock Chica, who we see prowling around the kitchen area in the latest trailer.  She seems to have a stealthier approach, but is also seen knocking down a pile of boxes to get to the character.

Before I talk about our ally, I need to cover the Sun Animatronic and the Moon Animatronic.  I don’t know a lot about these characters in general, but the Moon Animatronic can be seen sliding down a playground slide to get to the player.  I think they’re most likely mascots to the different floors of the mall, and out enemies all the same.  They’ll probably be more on the flexible side, and since we’re playing as a kid, that could mean bad news.

Now, how about something uplifting?  The final animatronic, Glamrock Freddy, is teased to be an ally to Gregory, helping him hide from Vanny and the other animatronics.  In a statue released by Funko, we see Gregory hiding inside Glamrock Freddy’s stomach while Vanny stalks them from the side.  This will be the first time we get to have the aid of an animatronic.  Some people speculate that we’ll be able to reprogram the other animatronics into helping us as well, and I think that’d be a cool concept.

Now then, let’s talk about lore, the hardest thing to depict in this whole dang series of games.  The FNaF lore is super complicated and vague, and I only know as much as I do because I’ve seen awesome theory YouTube channels like SuperHorrorBro and, my personal favorite, The Game Theorists.  Anyway, lore discussions.  So far we know that Vanny is being forcefully manipulated by the spirit of William Afton (Glitchtrap) but she clearly doesn’t want to do his bidding.  I’m getting a lot of split personality vibes from this, maybe in the game she’ll be on and off our side as the night goes on.  In the new trailer there’s a constant ticking in the background, maybe a bomb is set to go off or something?  But it’s really unclear.  However, the most confusing part to me comes at the end of the most recent trailer.  We see a clawed purple hand scratching at the ground.  I think this is the reincarnated William Afton, but I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I know most of that was confusing for those of you who don’t actively follow the FNaF franchise, but if you’d like, I can write up an article (or a few) summarizing the series.  Or, if there’s something from the series you want me to cover I’d be happy to do so.  Anyway, thanks for giving me your time Bobcats, I know this was a longer one than usual, but I hope it was worth it.  Have a great day Bobcats!  Make sure to live with pride!
